Hey all,
I have been going to Disneyland ever since I can remember as a small young toddler. My parents say I went for the first time at about 16 months old. Unfortunately, my dad had one job to do and that was to bring the camera….well he dropped the ball so there is no photographic evidence of this visit ever occurring…bummer. On the bright side, I have very fond and even some not so fond memories of going to Disneyland from a very very young age. That has been the case throughout my life. I even proposed to my wife next to the Snow White Wishing Well. Needless to say Disneyland is very important to me. I have graced its numerous lands and attractions with just about every person I have loved in life including grandparents, parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, romantic partners, spouse, children, and even a couple neighbors.
Maps became my souvenir of choice right around the 50th Anniversary celebration. I had held on to quite a few over the years, but not all of them. The park maps are amazing artifacts of that moment in the park’s history. Many attractions, shows, parades, and special events have come and gone over the years. The maps are a great opportunity to remember what was, is, and even in some cases what’s to come.
My collection has grown modestly over the last 17 years or so. However, I still have a lot of holes to fill in my collection, especially for Disneyland itself, prior to the year 2000. As far as DCA (Disney California Adventure) is concerned I have a complete run (thanks to EBay and some generous collectors) from 2004-this date in 2023. 2001-2003 still need some love! All in good time. Well that’s enough for now! I look forward to meeting fellow map loving individuals for conversation, trades, research, and the mutual love of Walt’s Original Magic Kingdom.
